THE HISTORY The developement and philosophy of this label is closely linked with the history of popular electronic instrumental music. The launch of the label in January 1982 with the „Erdenklang - Computerakustische Klangsinfonie" by Hubert Bognermayr and Harald Zuschrader ran parallel with the revolutionary advancement of the Fairlight - music computer. Erdenklang set up milestones in this music genre with artists like Hubert Bognermayr, Gerd Bessler, Poli Palmer, Johannes Schmoelling. Kristian Schulze, Matthias Thurow, Klaus Netzle, just to name a few.

But Erdenklang´s scope began to widen in the late eighties, taking some steps away from the European electronic music heritage to encompass a wide range of global influences. The „CrossCulture" series combines electronic music with many aspects of ethnic, world and native traditional musics. Of course also recordings with non-electronic instruments find their place in this „eclectophonic" catalogue.

So far the most outstanding and successful recordings in this genre were the TRI ATMA group and the ensemble VOX with its meanwhile famous interpretation of the songs of „Hildegard von Bingen" and their 2nd album „From Spain To Spain" not to forget ancient folk singers like Kirile Loo and Irén Lovász or even the Hungarian cyber-ethno freak László Hortobágyi.

The "Silent Beauty" series is Erdenklang´s showcase for the "New Age" genre; however, there still remains a degree of unconventionality to the music that saves it from total insipidness. Bernard Xolotl´s „Procession" best illustrates this point and Tim Wheater´s/Michael Hoppé ´s "Romances" beside the fact that Bernward Koch´s two albums reached a very high peak of sales in the USA, his "Laguna De La Vera" was in the Billboard´s New Age Charts as well as Erlend Krauser‘s CD "Flight Of the Phoenix" with his famous coverversion of "Riders On The Storm".

"Erdenklang Music"
imparts a lifestyle of all global oriented people who consider music as a universal language and eclectical experiences and adventures. The artists are searching for eclectic messages beyond of puristic styles.
