Thomas Lennartz about hinself and his music
„I regard myself as a musical border crosser. A classic piano education in my youth near Aachen, Rock – and Popbands later on and finally many experiences in the jazz-scene of Cologne – all this was influencing my music. The result is a kind of musical speech which is hard to put in any corner but which shows a permanent search for simplicity, clearness and timelessness. Most of the songs are similar to jazz standards – after the introduction of the theme follows an improvisation on the basis of the harmonies of the theme and then a return to the theme-base. These often recurrences and the simple harmonies are again typical for popmusic“
„ I called this first solo album Voyages, because many songs are dedicated to travelling impressions – through France and Spain, but also to some domestic places. Being on a voyage means to me to collect new ideas and to be able to think about various things without being disturbed“
